If you have overdosed on holiday food like me and are ready for cleaning eating, here is a perfect recipe to get you started.
2 lbs ground beef 1 cup chopped onion 1 cup chopped potatoes 1 cup sliced carrots 1/2 cup shredded red cabbage 1/2 cup chopped celery 1/4 cup raw barley 1/2 tsp thyme 1 bay leaf 1/4 tsp basil 5 tsp salt (I use pink Himalayan salt) 1/2 tsp pepper 6 cups water
Brown ground beef and onion, drain well and combine all ingredients in the crockpot and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours. If cooking on the stove top cook until veggies are tender .
