2 Pasture to Plate Co. tenderized round steaks (round steak comes 1 per package)
1 pouch of onion soup mix or onion gravy mix
2 C of hot water
1 medium yellow onion, diced
8 oz sliced mushroom
3 cloves of garlic, minced
2 T of butter or oil
I made this in my Instant Pot. Crockpot and oven instructions are below.
In the Instant Pot choose the saute function. Add butter or oil to Instant Pot followed by diced onions and mushrooms if using. Saute for a few minutes and then add garlic and saute a few more minutes. I remove the garlic, onion and mushrooms while I brown the round steak.
Slice the Pasture to Plate Co. tenderized round steak in strips and add to your Instant Pot on Saute function to lightly brown each side (2-3 minutes on each side).
Once brown turn off saute function and top round steak with onion/garlic/mushrooms.
Add the powdered onion soup/gravy mix to 2 C of hot water and dissolve.
Pour over the meat and onion mixture.
Set your Instant Pot to pressure cook on high for 5 minutes.
Release the steam and you are ready to serve.
This recipe is best served on top of creamy mashed potatoes and with buttery corn. If you want to make this recipe in your crockpot, sear the meat in the skillet, saute the onions mushrooms and garlic in the same skillet and add the gravy mix with water to your crockpot and cook on low 8 to 10 hours. If you are making this in the oven, do the same steps as the crockpot adding ingredients to a casserole dish. Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 2.5 hours.
If you want the gravy thicker use the gravy mix. I prefer spices without all the extra ingredients that I a not familiar with so I use the soup mix making a thinner gravy. This can also be served over noodles instead of potatoes.
